CRCSD Facilities Master Plan Community Open Houses

The public is invited to community open houses to learn more about the Cedar Rapids Community School District’s facilities master plan and ask questions. The focused discussion involves middle school and high school renovation, additions, new build, and repurposing.

There are three, in-person options and two virtual offering.

In addition to the community open houses, CRCSD will be holding feedback sessions with CRCSD staff at all middle schools. Additionally, CRCSD is conducting coffee community sessions with business leaders, City of Cedar Rapids and City of Hiawatha officials.

Relating to elementary schools, six community input sessions and four staff input sessions were conducted for a total of 10 input sessions:

A special board meeting was set for May 16, 2022, at the Educational Leadership & Support Center located at 2500 Edgewood Rd. NW. “The board has set this time to allow for public comment regarding the Question of the Closure of Garfield Elementary School,” said David Tominsky, board president.
