Hoover Community School – Building for the Future
Just a few weeks later, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, CRCSD will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the brand-new Hoover Community School. This project reflects the district’s vision of creating vibrant, student-centered learning spaces that serve both academic and community needs. Like Van Buren, Hoover’s new building is slated to open in August 2027, giving students and families a modern campus that supports both education and community engagement.
Across the district, these projects represent more than construction sites—they represent opportunity, innovation, and community. From expanding high school pathways at Jefferson and Washington, to introducing cutting-edge health sciences at McKinley, to honoring history at Harrison, and breaking ground on entirely new schools at Van Buren and Hoover, each project reflects a future where students are better equipped to learn, grow, and thrive.
These investments are shaping the landscape of education in Cedar Rapids for decades to come. They are not only creating modern spaces for students to learn but also strengthening neighborhoods, preserving history, and building a sense of pride for families and staff.
