The magnet school lottery for the 2023-24 school year is now open. Online applications for the magnet school lottery will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 24, at 11:59 p.m.

CRCSD was recently awarded a $14.8 million dollar federal Magnet School Assistance Program grant to expand the magnet school program. The district has three elementary, two middle, and one magnet high school.

  • The Johnson STEAM Academy (kindergarten through 5th grade) has a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) theme with a pronounced focus on arts integration
  • The Kenwood Leadership Academy (kindergarten through 5th grade) has a leadership theme and uses the Leader in Me program.
  • The Cedar River Academy at Taylor Elementary (kindergarten through 5th grade) has a sustainability theme with a focus on sustainability of the environment, community, and self.
  • The Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy (6th through 8th grade) has a business theme with a focus on leadership and entrepreneurship and is adding the Leader in Me program.
  • The McKinley STEAM Academy (6th through 8th grade) has a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) with a pronounced focus on medical sciences and the arts.
  • City View Community High School (9th and 10th grade) will focus heavily on preparing students for their futures by engaging them in authentic work with and in our community. City View will also tailor experiences to the student’s interests so they are prepared to pursue a college degree or want to immediately enter the workforce.
