Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) is pleased to announce that it has reached tentative agreements with several union work groups across the district for the 2024 -2025 school year. This action was taken at a special board meeting on Monday, May 6, 2024. CRCSD is grateful for its strong working relationships with its employee bargaining groups. Thanks to the collaboration, transparency, and commitment of all parties, the District was able to make these agreements quicker than expected. Despite next year’s State Supplementary Aid funding of only 2.5%, the district is pleased to announce that all staff members will receive at least a 3.0% raise for the next fiscal year. This is partly thanks to the slightly increased student enrollment numbers and the district’s management of taxpayers’ dollars.
The District and the Cedar Rapids Education Association (CREA) have also come to an agreement to contract terms for the teacher workgroup. The timeliness of the agreement allows the District to gain insight into the scope of staffing needs for the next school year and the opportunity to begin teacher recruitment before the current school year ends. Additionally, for the first time since 2017, CREA and CRSCD have approved a two-year contract, giving employees assurance and transparency into their contracts over the next two years.
Dr. Grover, Superintendent of CRCSD, praised the working relationships between the district and its work groups for achieving such positive results.
“All of this energizes me and shows me that we are gaining small wins to fulfill our promise to the greater Cedar Rapids area,” Dr. Grover said. “Our collective goal of stabilizing the District and providing the best possible service to our students has been achieved through collaboration and a shared focus on our students. This is a proud moment for our District.”
