CRCSD is pleased to announce that Kamber Boeckmann has been selected as the next principal of Viola Gibson Elementary School, effective July 1, pending board approval.

Mrs. Boeckmann will succeed Tammi Kuba, who announced earlier this year that she would be retiring at the end of the school year. She was chosen through a rigorous selection process by an interview committee that included parents, teachers, and district administrators.

Kamber brings a deep knowledge of our district, a strong commitment to students’ success, and a proven record of leadership. Her 22-year career in the district includes classroom experience, teaching preschool through third grade, as well as leadership roles as an Instructional Coach. Most recently, Kamber has served as a School Instructional Coach, partnering with principals and leadership teams across the district to support continuous school improvement.

For Kamber, education is a true family legacy. She comes from a family of educators; her father was a longtime teacher and coach before becoming a private school principal, and both of her sisters currently teach in nearby districts. She and her husband, Jamie, are proud parents of two sons who have grown up within the Cedar Rapids Community School District.

“Kamber brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success,” shared Superintendent Dr. Tawana Lannin. “She leads with heart, integrity, and a deep-seated belief in the potential of every child. I am confident that under her guidance, Viola Gibson will continue to be a place where both students and staff feel valued and empowered.”

Mrs. Boeckmann is passionate about developing both the students and staff at Viola Gibson while fostering a culture of collaboration and growth. Regarding her new role, Kamber shared:

“Following in the footsteps of a leader like Tammi Kuba is a privilege, and I am truly excited for the journey ahead. As both an educator and a community member, I have seen the strong academics and collaborative spirit at Viola Gibson. It is clear that this is a place where students are supported, staff work together with purpose, and family engagement plays an important role in the school’s success. I am committed to continuing and building upon that work as we look toward our next chapter.”

While Mrs. Boeckmann will not officially begin until July 1st, she will be collaborating with Principal Kuba this spring to ensure a thoughtful and successful transition into the next school year. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Tammi Kuba for her many years of dedicated service to CRCSD. Her leadership and heart have left an indelible mark on Viola Gibson, and we wish her the best as she begins her retirement on June 30th.
