The best celebrations are the ones everyone remembers for the right reasons. In light of recent events, and to ensure our graduates receive the memorable, joyful celebration they deserve, the Cedar Rapids Community School District and the Cedar Rapids Police Department are partnering to implement enhanced security measures in and around the Alliant Energy Powerhouse for our high school graduation ceremonies. This strategic, coordinated effort is intended to maintain order and keep the focus of these events strictly on student milestones and family celebrations.

Students, families, and community members can expect an increased law enforcement and security presence at graduation sites, and we ask everyone to help us maintain a respectful and safe environment. 

Please review these strict requirements:

• See Something, Say Something: Report any suspicious activity immediately to security, law enforcement, or school officials.
• Loitering: To maintain safety and traffic flow, loitering inside the arena, the lobby, in parking ramps, or outside the venue is strictly prohibited.
• Arena Bag Policy: Backpacks, large bags and purses, suitcases, and boxes are prohibited. We prefer guests use clear bags smaller than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ OR small wristlets/clutches smaller than 5″ x 8″. Diaper bags and medical bags are allowed but are subject to search.
• Compliance: Guests who fail to follow these expectations or security personnel directives will be escorted from the event. CRCSD also reserves the right to prohibit any item considered a safety risk from being brought into the venue.

Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly prohibited inside the venue:

• Disruptive Items: Air horns, cowbells, whistles, or any other noisemakers.
• Celebratory Items: Balloons, beach balls, confetti, banners, and signs.
• Food & Drink: No outside food or beverages, including flasks, coolers, cans, bottles, or similar containers.
• No Weapons: Absolutely no weapons or look-alike weapons are permitted on arena grounds.
• No Controlled Substances: The venue is entirely smoke-free and vape-free. Alcohol, drugs, and drug paraphernalia are strictly prohibited.
• No Drones/Lasers: Drones, model aircraft, and laser pointers are banned.
• No Animals: No animals are permitted, except certified service animals.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in maintaining a positive, safe, respectful environment before, during, and after the ceremony so that every single graduate receives the memorable milestone and recognition they have worked so hard to achieve.
