Carpentry

Our talented, in-house carpenters are responsible for cabinetry work, including doors and hardware, flooring, renovation work, and playground equipment repair. Carpenters are also responsible for exterior and interior locksmith work, locks and keys, locker repair, and setting up and maintaining keyless entry systems.

Construction management

Construction management coordinates the renovation and new construction projects throughout CRCSD. Construction projects are funded through the general fund, Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL), and Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE).

Energy

Our energy team members oversee conservation initiatives and energy practices throughout CRCSD. This role includes managing building control systems, geothermal production wells, and overseeing all utility companies that serve our facilities.

Grounds crew

The grounds crew is responsible for maintaining over 425 acres of CRCSD properties, including mowing, snow removal, and ice control. Grounds crews also maintain Kingston Stadium and the numerous events that take place there every year.

In addition, the grounds crew is also responsible for maintaining all of the small engine equipment owned by CRCSD.

Maintenance and mechanical shop

The maintenance and mechanical shop includes electrical, HVAC, food service equipment repair, plumbing, and fabrication.

Electrical: Craftsmen are responsible for maintaining electrical systems, bells, clocks, fire alarms, intercoms/PA systems, and lighting.

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC): Craftsmen are responsible for the maintenance, boiler repair and replacement, exhaust fans, fume hoods, geothermal systems, pneumatic systems, and other components of HVAC systems.

Food service equipment repair: Working closely with the food and nutrition department, craftsmen are involved in keeping school kitchens running smoothly.

Plumbing: Craftsmen are responsible for maintenance, repair and replacement of drinking fountains, sinks, toilets and urinals, gas systems, pool systems, sprinkler systems, storm, waste and water piping, water heaters, and water softeners.

Fabrication: Our certified welder performs everything from simple welding repairs to complicated fabrication.

Paint shop

CRCSD buildings are on a five-year exterior and a 10-year interior painting schedule. Our painters are also responsible for glass replacement, graffiti removal, locker painting, plaster repair, refinishing, playground painting, parking lot painting, signage, and roof repairs.

Preventative maintenance

Preventive maintenance is regular, routine maintenance to help prevent any unplanned downtime and expensive costs from unanticipated equipment failure. Preventive maintenance requires careful planning and scheduling of maintenance on equipment before there is an actual problem, as well as keeping accurate records of past inspections and servicing reports.

The benefits of preventive maintenance include:

  • Prolonged life of CRCSD equipment
  • Less unplanned downtime caused by equipment failure
  • Less unnecessary maintenance and inspections
  • Fewer errors in day-to-day operations
  • Improved reliability of equipment
  • Fewer expensive repairs caused by unexpected equipment failure that must be fixed quickly
  • Reduced risk of injury
