Welcome to Kindergarten at CRCSD!
We are honored to partner with you for this exciting milestone. At Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD), we provide a nurturing environment where our youngest learners grow into confident, curious students. Our kindergarten classrooms are embedded in our 18 elementary schools across the district.
Is My Child Eligible?
- Age Requirement: Per Iowa state law, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 15, 2026.
- Alternative Kindergarten (AK): If your child meets the age requirement listed above, but could benefit from an extra year of development, we offer an Alternative Kindergarten (AK) program. To apply, simply indicate your interest on the standard registration form. Students will be screened to determine eligibility for the program. You will receive an email with more information about the screening process after you complete registration.

Step 1: Determine Your Registration Path
Please read carefully to ensure your child is registered correctly.
New to CRCSD:
Is your family new to the district? Please use the buttons below if you are brand new to Cedar Rapids schools, returning after an absence, or do not currently have any other children enrolled in our district.

Current CRCSD Families (Sibling Enrollment):
If you already have a student in the district, please register a new sibling for Kindergarten through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to keep your family’s records connected.
- Log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Note: If you need assistance with your Infinite Campus account or password, please contact your current student’s school office. - Select More > Online Registration
- Follow the prompts to enroll your new student and add them to your existing Infinite Campus family account. This ensures all your students are linked to the same household for communications and transportation.
Current CRCSD Preschool Student:
Good news! If your child currently attends a CRCSD Preschool, you are already in our system. You do not need to register as a new student. Simply complete your Annual Verification after April 1, 2026, to confirm your spot for Kindergarten.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
To complete your registration and to secure a placement for your student, please ensure you have the following required documents ready to upload (scanned copies or clear photos of the documents). Or you can drop off physical copies at your resident school building or our District’s Educational Leadership and Support Center.
- Proof of Residence: Provide one of the following documents showing the parent/guardian’s name AND the current residence address.
- Gas, electric, or water utility bill (current or last month)
- Current mortgage statement or signed lease/rental agreement
- Recent pay stub or property tax bill
- A driver’s license will NOT be accepted
- Immunization Record or Exemption Certificate: Provide a valid Iowa Certificate of Immunization showing that your child has received all state-required vaccines for their age. Or, submit a valid Certificate of Immunization Exemption (Religious or Medical), or a Provisional Certificate of Immunization.
- Proof of Birthdate: Submit one of the following documents for proof of your child’s birthdate: birth certificate (not a hospital record), passport/visa, physician’s statement, or adoption papers.
