Cedar Rapids Community School District offers a wide range of preschool opportunities for local students and families. Your student is eligible to apply for preschool for the 2024-2025 school year if they are turning 3 or 4 years old on or before Sept. 15, 2024.

Cedar Rapids Community School District 3- and 4-year-old preschool provides a nurturing environment for young students. Each class is led by a teacher licensed through the State of Iowa in Early Childhood Education and lays the foundation for school success and lifetime problem-solving skills for your child.

There is no cost for 3 and 4-year-old preschools. A Statewide grant funds the 4-year-old preschool, while a 3-year-old preschool is funded by a Shared Vision grant. For 3-year-old preschools, CRCSD offers a Shared-Vision experience at two locations: CRA Taylor and Grant Wood Elementary. Both sites only offer half-day programs (AM and PM). Since 3-year-old preschool is funded by the Share Vision grant, 3-year-old student eligibility is based on income qualification criteria.

CRCSD busing transportation is offered for 4-year-old students attending Truman Early Childhood Center. Families are responsible for transportation for students attending a half-day preschool program, except for qualifying Individual Education Plan (IEP) students. Champions wrap-around services are offered onsite for before-school, after-school, and/or Friday care if interested.

To register for preschool, please upload the required documents found below through the online registration process with the buttons below. Registration does NOT guarantee a placement/enrollment. Early Learning will follow up with families when students are placed.

Applications for preschool are now being taken for the 24-25 school year. There will be a slight delay in placement notification due to pending state legislation. Notification of placement will be made in the first week of May. Families will receive a phone call or an email.
Thank you for your patience.
